Arg-E Jadid Special
Economic Zone was established and started its activities at the
10-day anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Republic of Iran in
1997 with the aim of creating and developing the required facilities
for efficient industrial activities, absorbing modern technology and
enhancing employment domains through attracting and directing
domestic and foreign investments. Arg-E Jadid, which is located at a
10-kilometer distance from the eastern part of Bam city (Bam-Zahedan
Road) in Kerman Province, covers an area of 1100 hectares.

The zone,
prior to joining other special economic zones, attracted foreign
investment by cooperating with Daewoo Company from South Korea and
paved the way little by little for cooperation of other companies.

Accordingly, partnership and vast
investment, on the one hand, and endeavors of domestic specialists,
on the other hand, made Arg-E Jadid the only specialized economic
zone in vehicle manufacturing industries, parts manufacturing
industries and affiliated industries, in a manner that various
models of vehicles manufactured in the country are currently
produced by the companies present in this special zone.
Omran Arg Company, as the master
company in Arg-E Jadid Special Economic Zone, started a major part
of its activities there to realize development of industrial,
economic and tourism activities. Among the key measures of this
company creating the required infrastructures and logistic
facilities including establishment of a private terminal in Bam
airport, establishment of passenger and transportation terminals,
railroad and equipped warehouses, supply of water, electricity and
telecommunications services, hotel construction, providing sports,
recreational and educational services as well as other facilities
shall be referred to. By providing these facilities, in addition
to paving the way for ever-increasing development of industrial
investment, it is hoped that the zone will soon be one of the
tourism and recreational poles of the country, with regard to the
required potentialities.
